Release Notes 0.4.0

February 26, 2020 - The Avatar: Pandora Rising Dev Team

The battle on Pandora hits another stage of evolution with new ground Troops, Commanders, a new Trials feature, and balance updates.

What’s New Overview

  • Two Troops: Incinerator and Blastbulb
RDA heat up the competition with the Incinerator’s line-attack, blazing through clusters of enemy forces or structures. The Na’vi hinder and halt enemy pushes with Blastbulb’s 360 degree attack that slows impacted troops.
  • Two Commanders: Williams and Akwey
Explore decks with the new Warrior and Soldier for each faction that feature Incinerator and Blastbulb.
  • Trials feature
Now available: A new feature challenging your combat skills! This mode is meant for newer players primarily; however, everyone can benefit from the Trial Tokens and Troop Shards. Earn Trial Tokens every day based on your progress in the Trials mode and spend it in the new Trial Shop. This feature is accessed through a new character now residing in your base/village.
  • DD-45 Harrower is now the Helldozer
It will still be a high health Troop designed to smash buildings, just with a new name and model more befitting of this juggernaut.
  • Commander talent updates
Rare and Epic Commanders now utilize rarer, stronger Troops, Buildings, and Powers. Non-Safeguard Gatherers, Hunters, Scientists, and Miners have had their talents upgraded to harvest more efficiently across solo and rally nodes...and a couple have been promoted to Safeguards!
  • Troop balance changes
Based on feedback and how players were using some Troops we made a few tuning changes, and defined their roles more clearly.
  • Creating more PvP battles and fairer combat
Economy changes were made to increase the importance of defending Credits/Woodsprites and make Combat Protection/Eywa’s Blessing scarcer. Army Power updates will help keep combat fair.
  • Alliance Event Contribution leaderboard
Now you can see who in your Alliance is topping the charts in events.
  • Coming Soon: More Troops and Commanders
Both the Na’vi and RDA will be receiving a new Troop and Commander later this update. You can get a sneak peek at them by viewing your locked Troop and Commander Cards.

New Feature: Trials

Trials will challenge and help you improve your combat skills. Each Trial gets more difficult as you fight your way up to become a master of battle.

Earn Trial Tokens and Troop Shards for winning a battle for the first time and bonus tokens for mastering it with a Total Victory. As you master more trials you’ll get an increasing amount of Trial Tokens each day based on your progress.

Trial Tokens are redeemable for Troop Shards in the new Trial Shop.

Side paths along the Trial allow you to play with special pre-made decks to learn new strategies. See if you can defeat these bosses for better rewards.

This is our first iteration of Trials and like many things this early in the game, it may see larger changes as the game grows.

General Changes

Encouraging More PvP and Meaningful Base Defense

  • We realized the incoming rate of Wood Sprites/Credits was too high and the amount needed for building upgrades were too low. The adjustments below should create more natural occasions where you will have to manage resources, defend your supply, and engage in meaningful combat with players.
  • Wood Sprites/Credits cost for most Buildings, Commanders, and Troops have increased. Costing too few resources (especially Buildings) caused less occasions where you had to protect them and overall made upgrading feel less meaningful.
  • All boats in the Trade Post/Supply Dock will be smaller, requiring less resources in order to complete. This should make it easier to send off boats. Each resource you send is still worth the same; however, boat refreshes will also happen at the same rate. Unfortunately, this will result in a decrease in total Wood Sprites/Credits each day.
  • Woodsprite and Credit protection amounts have lowered less than 10% for Storage levels 1-8 to create more PvP early on, but increased for Storage levels 9+ to accommodate the upgrade cost changes.
  • PvP Token protection has decreased as it now does not increase by upgrading Supply Vaults/Storage

World Map Harvest Nodes and Rallies

  • Quantity of resources in all tiers for solo and rallies has increased to make them beneficial to more players. As these nodes are all larger, they will take more time to harvest. (These will start appearing after the update and older nodes will have to be farmed for new ones to be created).
  • Based on your feedback, we wanted to take steps to improve the organization of Rallies. Players will now receive a notification when a Rally they created is full.

Shop Dynamics

  • Wood/Cement are more available and at higher quantities based on your progress.
  • Woodsprite and Credit prices have increased for all world map, base, and crafted resources to better reflect their value.

Sacred Site Changes

  • Reduced Claim timers to create more exciting and fast-paced action.
  • Moved some rewards from the Sacred Sites themselves to the Challenges during the event to place more of an emphasis on participation.
  • Increased rewards for capturing the center Sacred Site.

Contribution Leaderboard for Alliance Events

  • Now you can see who in your Alliance are topping the charts in events.

Alliance Donations

  • Donations will no longer exceed the noted cap and display "Donated max" when you hit the cap.
  • Donate and request amounts for the following resources have increased:
  • Wood/Cement
  • Ovumshroom/Crude Oil
  • Vine/Permalloy
  • Tree Oil/Plastic Filament

New Split Challenges

  • Split Challenges have been added to the rotation. Players will be randomly assigned to one of two competing Challenges. As an example, some will have milestones to gather resources while the others will raid resources. These roles will sometimes swap afterwards.
  • The Solo Patrol Challenge has been removed as the goals for this are now achieved through the new Trials feature.

Daily Goals

  • Daily Goals have an upgraded UI!
  • Added player XP to all goals.
  • New goals have been added for Trials.
  • Elite Chest tokens from the Complete All goal have moved into Trials goals.
  • Replaced Combat Protection from the Donate to Alliance Goals reward with craft speedups and Alliance Credits. This will help create more action and encourage people to use their shields more wisely.

Outposts

  • Outposts now display multiple warnings for incoming Special Troops.
  • Several Special Troops and Powers in Outposts have been toned down such as the special Field Barracks: Trooper Stronghold. Some that were not as impactful have been buffed, like the special Ikran Assault: Crippling Shot.
  • The AI behind the Outposts has been improved, so expect a bit more of a challenge.

New Player Experience Updates

  • We’ve updated the new player experience to focus more on combat and upgrading your army as well as introduce the new Trials feature.

Troops and Combat Changes

General

  • Creating fairer combat matchups
  • Alongside increasing the amount of battles that are happening with our resource changes, we Improved Army Power Calculation for fairer combat. It should now better weight the value of Troops that are in a deck.
  • Narrowed the range that battles are considered “Non-Trivial” to help create fairer combats.
  • Defenders get a boost to their Wall Towers Base Health, from 1500 to 1850.
  • PvP Token Rewards from Combat
  • Increased base PvP Tokens earned from winning battles at early levels.
  • PvP Tokens earned at higher levels no longer scale linearly and taper off.
  • Stamina tuning
  • Made adjustments to the Stamina Cap and Stamina Boosts respectively while retaining the same amount of Stamina Regeneration per day.
  • Some of the below Troop changes should take effect shortly after the update.

Hellswarm

  • Duration increased from 12 to 14 seconds.

Hunting Party

  • Now uses a vertical line formation.
  • Cost decreased from 11 to 10.
  • This should give it more of an identity compared to RPG Squad and provide some resistance to area attacks.

Ikran Assault

  • Target Radius reduced from 8.5 to 8.
  • We raised the aim and prediction skill needed to hit multiple high-value targets.

Paradise Needler

  • Base Damage increased by 14.3%.
  • Base Health reduced by 9.1%.
  • Lifetime increased from 25 to 28 sec.
  • Greater knock back on-attack.
  • Defensive Buildings across the board were too effective at stalling with limited counter-play. We made a shift to lower their health making Special Powers more viable against them, but increased their duration to offset.

Puffball Tree

  • Base Health reduced by 2.8%.
  • Puffball Base Damage reduced by 5.4%.
  • Puffball Base Health increased by 9.5%.
  • Lifetime increased from 30 sec. to 32 sec.
  • The damage here was tuned so Puffballs are more effective against swarms, not everything.

Titanothere

  • Base Health increased by 6.4%.

Viperwolves

  • Base Damage increased by 2.2%.
  • Base Health increased by 2.4%.

Viperwolf Pack

  • Base Damage increased by 2.2%.
  • Base Health increased by 2.4%.

Viperwolf Den

  • Cost reduced from 8 to 6.
  • Base Health reduced by 34.6%.

  • Base Health increased by 0.3%.

Bunker

  • Base Health increased by 3%.

Field Barracks

  • Base Health reduced by 11.6%.
  • Spawn Rate increased from 6.5 to 6, resulting in one additional spawn.
  • Lifetime increased from 35 to 40 sec.

  • Base Damage increased by 22.2%.
  • Base Health reduced by 3.4%.
  • Death Explosion Base Damage reduced by 12.7%.

  • Base Health decreased by 1.6%.

Hornet Scout

  • Base Health reduced by 1.7%.

Missile Battery

  • Base Health reduced by 7.3%.
  • Lifetime increased from 30 to 35 sec, resulting in one extra attack.

  • Ripper is now more easily pushed back by effects.
  • Battle Line Influence Strength significantly reduced.

RPG Infantry

  • Attack Speed reduced by 11.1%.

RPG Squad

  • Attack Speed reduced by 11.1%.
  • Cost reduced from 11 to 10.

RPG Station

  • Has visually reduced in size, but still has the same Troop Footprint.

Scorpion Gunship

  • Now does area damage in a very small radius.
  • Puffball and Stingbat Swarm should now have a harder time countering this Troop.

Troopers

  • Base Damage increased by 9.1%.
  • Attack Speed reduced by 16.7%.
  • Formation is now more spaced out.
  • Due to the nature of how low their stats are, the numbers for these tuning changes to Troopers seem larger than they are.

Trooper Squad

  • Base Damage increased by 9.1%.
  • Attack Speed reduced by 16.7%.

Commander Changes

  • Non-Safeguard Gatherers, Hunters, Scientists, and Miners’ have had a shift in focus of their first and third talents to be more versatile across solo and rally nodes.
  • First talents now upgrade Speed and Bonus Resources for that Commander’s specialized node for both solo and rally nodes.
  • Third talents now upgrade Skill for that Commander’s specialized node for both solo and rally nodes.
  • Many Rare and Epic rarity Warriors/Soldiers had their second and third Talents shifted to rarer Troops.
  • Having a Deck that utilizes rarer, stronger Troops, Buildings, and Powers is one of the core ways we want to make Rare and Epic commanders feel special and powerful. We weren’t giving the higher tier Commanders enough access to these Troops, so we have shifted those they buffed with this in mind.
  • Navi: Jake, Mataru, Neytiri, Swin’ara, Tsu’mong, Tsu’tey, Vokan.
  • RDA: Casey, Morgado, Quaritch, Reza, Stojack, Wainfleet.
  • Shifted the first sub-class talents for Warriors and Soldiers at levels 5, 10, 15, and 20 to now only boost “All Troops” levels. Other boosts previously provided at those levels have been distributed across the remaining upgrade levels.
  • Shifted the individual Troop boosts from the second and third talents for Warriors and Soldiers to their sub-class first talents.
  • Their first talent now provides stronger All Troops level boosts, especially for Defenders, Raiders, and Stalkers.
  • Increased all Defenders’ sub-class talent boosts to Wall Towers.
  • Loot Skill updates
  • We heard feedback from players that they were not feeling the impact of this skill level to level.
  • Looting PvP Tokens from Player Bases:
  • Commanders at lower levels are able to steal more while the amount at high levels will taper off more.
  • Looting Resources on World Map Harvest Nodes:
  • Upgrading a commander talent in loot skill will have a greater effect on the amount of resources looted from resource nodes.
  • Max level commanders are able to loot more resources from harvest nodes.
  • Stalkers have become better at stealing resources from harvest nodes compared to non-Stalkers.
